Fiction Workshop Online With Chris Stewart
Algonkian introduces a new generation of online fiction classes and workshops beginning with this unique writer workshop led by Chris Stewart (see bio below). Classes will be held in an environment accessible 24/7 and that allows posting of assignments and work, as well as discussion and review. Christine Stewart is program director for arts in education, literary arts, and children's events with the Maryland State Arts Council. A former artist-in-residence with Creative Alliance in Baltimore, she is the founding director of the wildly successful Write Here, Write Now workshops, and editor of the first anthology from the program, Freshly Squeezed, published by Apprentice House Press at Loyola College. She has a M.A. and M.F.A. in creative writing and poetry, is the recipient of a Ruth Lilly Fellowship, a Pushcart Prize nominee, and her work has appeared in many nationally recognized literary journals including Ploughshares, Blackbird, and The Cortland Review. She has taught at Carver Center for Arts & Technology, Odyssey Program at Johns Hopkins, and the Baltimore Museum of Art. Her work with non-profits such as My Sister's Circle (Baltimore) and CityLit Project (Baltimore) focuses on mentoring and leading workshops for children and teens. Her online incarnation, THE BRUTAL CHEERLEADER, is a persona she uses to cut through the myths and delusions about the writing process. More about Christine can be found here on Google.
